Property Description
Camp 50K is an authentic 1920s Adirondack compound where nearly a century of history meets direct access to one of the finest outdoor recreation destinations in the Northeast. Camp 50k was renovated and built by one of the premier builders in the Adirondacks. Set on a half-acre and named for the legendary 50K Loppet ski loop, this well-maintained property centers around a quintessential Adirondack cabin thoughtfully updated with a renovated kitchen and bath while preserving the warmth and craftsmanship that define its era.
Inside the main cabin, hand-peeled log walls, exposed timber framing, wide-plank floors, and a dramatic loft create an inviting gathering space. The renovated kitchen features quality finishes and a Bertazzoni range, while the comfortable living room is anchored by a handsome stone fireplace with a wood-burning insert. Fully insulated and heated with electric baseboard heat throughout, the cabin is equally suited for weekend escapes or extended stays in every season.
Connected by covered walkways are two additional heated buildings that make Camp 50K a true Adirondack compound. One serves as a dedicated ski tuning building, offering the perfect space to prepare equipment before heading onto the trails. The second is a separate bunk room building, ideal for overflow guests, family, or additional sleeping accommodations. The ski waxing hut and bunk room are historical buildings reclaimed from a great Adirondack camp renovation. A utility shed provides convenient storage for outdoor gear and equipment.
From your back door, walk and ski directly onto the Flatlander Trail at Mt. Van Hoevenberg and experience miles of world-renowned groomed Nordic ski trails. Tune your skis, put a pot of soup on the stove, stoke the fire, and return after a day on the trails to the comfort of your own Adirondack retreat.
When the snow melts, the adventure continues. Ride the same renowned trail system by mountain bike, connect to the Craig Wood and Jackrabbit trail networks, hike Mt. Van Hoevenberg directly from the property, or explore the new Cascade Mountain connector trail. Indoor climbing at the Mt. Van Hoevenberg facility, Olympic venues, and year-round competitions including World Cup and international events for luge, bobsled, skeleton, Nordic skiing, biathlon, and mountain biking are all just moments away. The annual Loppet is another favorite tradition to enjoy from this exceptional location.
Only a short drive from both Lake Placid and Keene, Camp 50K offers convenient access to dining, hiking, rock climbing, swimming, paddling, and skating at the Cascade Lakes, making it an ideal basecamp for enjoying everything the Adirondacks have to offer.
